An Update

I have been gluten free now for about 2 weeks.  I feel great.  My headaches have pretty much gone away.  I haven't gotten sick to my stomach.  And I've been pretty regular (sorry, TMI).  Sounds great?

It has been until today.

On Sunday, I ate a few donut holes.  I know I shouldn't have.  Gipson's are REALLY hard to resist.  Please don't put me in charge of going to pick them up by myself.  I don't have the will power yet to resist.  I got a headache Sunday night and my stomach didn't feel so good.

Monday, I had my appointment with the GI doctor.  After waiting...TOO LONG.  His conclusion was to go back onto a gluten diet for about 2 weeks and then have to test run.  I can't remember (more so, spell) the names of the test.  In short, one goes through my mouth and the other...  So needless to say after feeling so good not eating any gluten and then being told that I have to eat it in bulk made me pretty upset.

I know its the best thing for me.  I know that it will give the best test results if I do go back to eating it.  Here is the interesting part...

Last night we had cooking club out in Collierville.  I know that the doctor wants me to eat gluten...but what if I get sick way out in collierville and I didn't drive myself.  So, I limited what I ate to two delicious sister shubert sandwiches ( you know the kind with ham, cheese and poppy seed dressing), some potato dish (which I look up the ingredients and it was gluten free), and dessert (it had lady fingers in it)

Everything was delicious.  On the way home I started to itch.  Not a bad itch, just like I might have gotten bitten by a misquito kind of itch.  When I got home I looked at my legs and I had big red spots EVERWHERE.  Kinda made me think I had the chicken pox (if I hadn't had them when I was 4).  I felt very tired so I took a bath and went to bed.  I didn't sleep great.  When I woke up I had spots from the bottoms of my feet to my biniki line and from my finger tips to my shoulders.  (None on my torso)

Talk about WEIRD!  I had read that gluten intolerance could show itself through skin aliments.  Google it if you don't believe me.  I talked to the school nurse when I got to work this morning and she told me to call the doctor right away.  Of course the doctor wasn't in yet, but the nurse said she would call me once she talked to him.  He said that they wanted to move up my test date and he told me to go back off gluten.

So, good and bad news.  I was kinda (except the getting sick part) looking forward to all my "last" meals of gluten.  I actually started planning it out last night while taking a bath.  Memphis Pizza Cafe, Ciao Bella, Cheesecake Corner, Gibson's Coconut Donuts just to name a few.  Now, I'm afraid that my test results will come back inconclusive because I will not have any gluten in my system.

If anyone actually read to the end of this lengthy post, pray for me next Wednesday.
